NASHVILLE'S LONGEST CONTINUALLY RUNNING STUDIO
OUR HISTORY
|
Hilltop Recording Studios was founded in 1963, making it the longest enduring studio business in Nashville. While many "old" studios have come and gone, Hilltop Studios has not stopped for a day since its original inception. We have enjoyed continuous growth for 50+ years in the same location! Our great reputation of honesty, quality and prolonged existence speaks for itself. When constructed, the building was actually built from the ground up as a recording studio. This was somewhat unusual for a "project studio" as many of these type studios in Nashville were built in converted houses, garages, old storage buildings, etc. Founded by Jack Linneman, who had already been an engineer for many years working for Starday King Records. During this time, he recorded many country artist such as George Jones, Cowboy Copas, Red Sovine and many others of that era. Jack left Starday to build Hilltop on a four acre "country side" site. The intentions were to have a small studio to record local groups and independent artists while maintaining a residence on the second floor. It didn't take long for the studio to get very busy and become a full time dedicated studio business. Word quickly spread around town suggesting Hilltop to be a quality place to record. Over the years, the studio business grew and the local area developed greatly with many houses and businesses opening up. Fortunately, our acreage was never divided up and today provides much privacy for our clients. |
